“The Walking Dead” has snowballed into a huge hit that airs Sunday nights on AMC, but for those who have watched it since the first episode, there’s a piece of the show’s history that’s for sale across the street from Grant Park.
Near the Zoo Atlanta side of the park sits a home that just went on the market. Asking $659,900, it was the home used in the pilot episode of the series. The house was “owned” by the show’s central character, Rick Grimes.
If you recall, Sheriff Rick returned home after waking from a coma, only to discover his family had fled and zombies – or “walkers” – had overtaken his neighborhood.
Now, the Victorian, built in 1897, is for sale, and as you can see in the photos below, it’s one heck of a sight. As stunning on the inside as it is on the outside, the house is 2,156 square feet of renovated beauty. Two old fireplaces were kept, as was the original millwork, according to Curbed Atlanta. But there were plenty of updates that added value to this property as well, and you don’t have to worry about zombies, so that’s always a plus.
