SunTrust Park construction: January 2016 update

The new year started with more big news for SunTrust Park.

Plans are being finalized for a $9.87 million pedestrian bridge from the Cobb Galleria parking decks so fans can quickly cross Interstate 285 and enter the stadium or its surrounding FanPlex, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. This should begin to help finally answer the question, “Where will everyone park?”

At the bottom of this page, you can see the design for the bridge in a new video posted by the county. You’ll notice that one side of the bridge is for pedestrians, while the other is a lane for buses.

Also, the Braves announced earlier this month that they’ll partner with Panasonic for a big LED scoreboard, as well as electronic signs outside the stadium at The Battery, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

“Panasonic will design, install and maintain a high-end, comprehensive large LED scoreboard display, ribbon fascia, digital signage, and video monitors throughout the park and adjacent spaces,” the company said at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. “Security cameras and security video management system, Video Insights, will also be installed, which will be managed by Panasonic. The final facet of the program will be an eco and sustainability plan for the complex.”
