SunTrust Park construction: October 2015 update

News is coming faster and faster about the Braves’ new stadium, SunTrust Park, and we’re getting close to learning about some of the businesses that will surround the new park.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports some familiar ITP eateries are looking to get spots for their restaurants outside SunTrust Park, where the mixed-use facility will be located. Antico Pizza Napoletana, Ford Fry’s Superica, Octane Coffee, Fado Irish Pub, Fifth Group Restaurants, Souper Jenny, Shake Shack and others are among those looking to set up shop near the stadium, the report said.

L.L. Bean and Athleta, as well as Field and Stream, are also talking to the Braves about getting stores at the new site, the ABC also reported.

It’s believed that we’ll start to hear about a few of the final selections in the next month or so, the report added.

As for the stadium, progress is accelerating, and as you can see in the animated image above, the construction site is really starting to look like a ballpark. Bricks are being added to the exterior, the skeleton of the scoreboard has been constructed and one outfield light tower is in place.

Here’s my other monthly time-lapse update to the aerial image, courtesy of Xan Gerson, as always. Here, you can clearly see the light tower and the spot where the scoreboard will go:
