Yet again, the Atlanta Hawks announced that a new court pattern will accompany a new regular season.
Here’s what the new court will look like when the 2015-16 season begins:
“The court incorporates both Volt Green and Georgia Granite Gray, two colors we unveiled with our new identity over the summer,” the team said in a news release. “The playing surface remains similar to last season, with our partial primary logo at center court. The only change is the Torch Red lanes, which now incorporate our newly-designed feather pattern.”
Indeed, most of the changes occur outside the playing surface. You’ll notice the volt green and granite gray – colors that were so controversial when the new uniforms were unveiled in the offseason – are along the sidelines and baselines.
I’ll admit I’m happy to see the Pac-Man logo remain at midcourt, and like so many others, the new color scheme is starting to grow on me. Of course, if this court yields more victories than the last one, I’ll enjoy it a whole lot more.
Want to be among the first to see the new court? AJC.com says the Hawks will have an open practice at Philips Arena on Oct. 3, which will be the fans’ first chance to check it out.
And if you’d like to compare this year’s court to their 2014-15 floor, here’s my article from last year.
