Buckhead plans to build first condo tower since market crash (PHOTOS)

Buckhead’s Peachtree Battle neighborhood may soon have a new residential tower that would give the area a “green” feel.

Atlanta-based developer JPX Works LLC has announced plans to build a new 23-story high-rise condominium tower, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The tower is expected to be called 2520 Peachtree, named after its address, the report added.

If completed, the high-rise will be the first condo tower planned and built since the recession, the ABC also said. The building will house some 65 units, and JPX Works expects to break ground in mid-2016.

Renderings should be taken with a grain of salt in the early-going, but one thing that really stands out about this building is how little it looks like every other tower in Atlanta. Plants line the building’s patios, giving color to the mostly white structure.

And in a city with so many blocky, unimaginative high-rises, 2520 Peachtree would be a sight for sore eyes.

“Still, not every observer is elated; one anonymous emailer to the tipline called the 2520 Peacthree (sic) vision an ‘atrocity’ this afternoon,” wrote Curbed Atlanta.

A few more renderings of the building, as well as an image of what the site looks like today, are below.
