SunTrust Park construction: June update

The future Home of the Braves is really starting to take shape as the summer of 2015 gets underway.

The animated image at the top of this page has been updated to reflect the last month’s construction progress at SunTrust Park. The latest image is the one with the Braves flag hanging from the fa├žade.

It’s been the left-field bleachers, which are being built in the foreground of the picture, that have gone up fastest so far. The concrete for the left-field lower level is in place, and it would appear the crews are already starting to build the second level.

Since my last update, several pieces of stadium-related news have been released. New stadium renderings and video were revealed by the franchise, and ticket sales began, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The team also said that more than 19,000 seats, or nearly half the ballpark, will priced at $20 per game or less.

On top of that big news, the franchise said Coors Light will be the new face of the new Chop House, so Budweiser’s run will come to an end when the team moves to SunTrust Park.

“The iconic Chop House will be re-invented within SunTrust Park and will feature three levels, including two party decks and a new field level which can be turned into a large group area directly behind right field,” said a separate ABC report. “Totaling 10,000 square feet, the Chop House will include a full menu, a variety of beer choices and a burger restaurant concept space.”

Maybe if we all pray for that “burger concept” to be a Holeman & Finch, it’ll come true. Let’s all hope our governor realizes the importance of this decision and orders a day of prayer for this cause.
