This photo may not look like much, but it’s about to become something very special.
You’re looking at the lot where the new Braves stadium, SunTrust Park, will be built. It’s only been a few months since ground was broken on the site, and there’s already a lot going on. Over the next 24 months, a lot more will be accomplished before the new stadium opens.
Over those next two years, I’m going to bring you one photo each week showing the progress of the new stadium. I’ll stand at the same spot each week and capture the comings and goings of the crews working to assemble the new Home of the Braves. And, eventually, I’ll also capture the stadium going up.
I will string the pictures together to make an animated GIF, and if my estimations are correct, you’ll see the new stadium pop up right in the middle of the photo as construction progresses. It should be a neat look at how quickly a stadium gets built, and I hope you check back frequently for the latest update to the animated image.
I’ve always been fascinated by the construction of sports stadiums, and this is my chance to see it up close. Hopefully, you’ll get a front-row seat to the journey as well.
