The Chicago Cubs had a strange week


I’m always seeing memes on the Internet about how peeved single girls get when their friends get engaged and they’re left sitting there, wondering when their Prince Charming will come along.

The Chicago Cubs just had one of those kind of weeks.

Their final three series of the 2013 season would come against the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals. And wouldn’t you know it? All three celebrated postseason berths against the Cubbies.

Last Sunday, the Braves partied at Wrigley Field after the Miami Marlins beat the Washington Nationals earlier in the day, clinching the NL East crown for Atlanta:

Then, on Monday night, the Pirates made a game-saving play at the plate to earn a playoff spot at Wrigley Field, and a truly iconic photo was the result:

Finally, on Friday night, the Cubs had to watch another celebration at Busch Stadium, when the Cardinals clinched an NL Central title and their fans stuck around for the festivities:
