What is Shake Shack and why should I be impressed?

I hear something pretty special is coming to Atlanta.

So tell me, Yankees — what have Southerners been missing by not having a Shake Shack in the Capital of the South?

From what I gather, it has a “Chick-Fil-A Effect” on people. By that, I mean Shake Shack has the ability to suck transplants in and get them addicted, as our southern bastion of pressure-cooked chicken has done to many a Northerner. I’ve heard the burgers and shakes are known across several states (and London, Istanbul and Dubai) as an addictive, habit-forming meal.

Word is that there will soon be a few Shake Shack restaurants planted around the Atlanta area. The first will be in Buckhead, announced to open in mid-2014. If there’s a lot of buzz around these eateries in other parts of the world, I’m pretty excited to give it a try.

My questions for seasoned veterans of the Shake Shack are twofold: Is this chain deserving of all the hype, and if so, what is your go-to meal when you get that craving?
