Scenes from Hogs and Hops at the Sweetwater Brewery

Sweetwater Brewery

If you didn’t know, I work Saturday nights, which severely hinders my ability to take in the local scene at times. I haven’t taken a Saturday off for a festival in Atlanta in more than a year, so when I bought my tickets for Hogs and Hops at the Sweetwater Brewery and got the green light to attend, I was pretty excited.

Until I saw the weather report earlier this week, of course.

Rain. Always rain.

The local brewery was lined with tents outside, temporarily hosting a handful of local barbecue joints for an evening of beers and pork. The event began at 6 p.m. sharp, and the rain wasn’t a second late for the festival. Seriously, it started pouring at 6:00 p.m.

Luckily, we brought an umbrella and ran inside as soon as we were admitted. It turned out to be a (mostly) rain-free evening after the first 30 minutes, which made for a pleasant night. The crowd stuck was great and most of the vendors ran out of pork after a few hours. There was live music and plenty of beer. In other words, I chose the right festival for my only Saturday leisure event in more than a year.

Below are a couple more images from the night after the inclement weather cleared and some friends of mine and my girlfriend showed up, as well as some of my Weather Channel colleagues.
