How you can help Sandy Hook

We all want to do something to make the world a more pleasant place to live after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, and if you want to do something material, there are plenty of options.

Here are some ideas, if you’re looking to give to those touched by the tragedy. Obviously, this is a different situation than the weather disasters that make a monetary donation so necessary, but here are a few options.

Sandy Hook Elementary Fund

Donating to this fund will help pay for funeral costs for each of the 27 who lost their lives. Click here to donate.

Fund counseling for the victims

There’s no doubt that this event will leave a lot of children (and adults) scarred for life — this fund will allow you to donate money so the victims can get counseling. It also will help fund churches and any other programs these folks will desperately need in the coming months and years. Click here to donate.

Help the school directly

There has also been a fund set up specifically to help Sandy Hook’s PTSA organization, so if you’d like to send money to the elementary school, you can do that here.

Send the kids a teddy bear

This is something an Atlanta store is doing to help the little boys and girls who have been through a really rough week. Even if they weren’t a victim of the shooting, Friday was a really troubling day for them. The past weekend was a whirlwind of media coverage and growing up a lot faster than they should. If you’d like to donate a teddy bear or two to the kids, you can drop them off at this location:
